PRODUCT DETAILS

The Aventon Abound SR is a compact electric cargo bike built for families, commuters, and anyone who wants to haul kids, groceries, or gear without a car. Powered by a 750W rear hub motor with a 60-mile range, it carries up to 440 lbs total payload — enough for a rider plus a passenger or a full week of errands — while staying small enough to park almost anywhere a regular bike fits.

The "SR" stands for Short Range geometry: a more compact frame than the standard Abound, fitting riders from 4'11" to 6'3" on a single size. New-for-2026 connected features include 4G/GPS tracking, geofencing alerts, and a startup password through Aventon's Control Unit (ACU) — meaningful theft deterrence on a bike this capable.

WHO THE ABOUND SR IS FOR

  • Parents replacing a second car for school drop-off and around-town family trips (rear seat pad and pegs sold separately let kids ride along).
  • Apartment and condo dwellers who need cargo capacity without a 6-foot longtail frame.
  • Riders 4'11" to 6'3" — the adjustable quill stem and one-size-fits-most frame cover a wide range.
  • Commuters carrying real loads — laptop bag, groceries, a passenger — who want a Class 2 e-bike (20 mph with throttle) that doesn't ride like a tank.

  • Sensor Switch: Toggle between torque sensor (responsive, feels natural) and cadence sensor (steady, cruisy) without changing bikes.
  • Cruise Control: Lock in your pace on longer rides.
  • Integrated Kickstand Lock: Bike won't roll while loading kids or cargo.
  • Hold Mode: Anti-rollback when you're walking it up an incline.
  • Startup Password & Geofencing: Set a personal code on the display; get alerts and motor disable if the bike leaves a designated area.
  • Over-the-Air Updates: New features arrive through the display, no shop visit required.
  • Cross-Model Keyless Battery: Same battery works on five Aventon models — useful if you upgrade or own multiple.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much can the Aventon Abound SR carry?
440 lbs total payload — that includes the rider, any passenger, and cargo. Most riders comfortably carry an adult passenger on the rear seat plus front-rack groceries within that limit.

Can two kids ride on the back of the Abound SR?
The rear deck is rated for a single passenger with the Aventon Rear Seat Pad and Pegs accessories. For two kids, you'd want a child seat setup — talk to us about Yepp or Thule options that work with the rear rack.

What's the real-world range?
Aventon claims up to 60 miles in Eco mode. In practice, expect 25–45 miles depending on rider weight, hills, cargo, throttle vs. pedal use, and assist level. Hilly San Francisco / East Bay terrain trends to the lower end.

Is the Abound SR a Class 2 or Class 3 e-bike?
Class 2 — 20 mph max with both pedal assist and throttle. This makes it legal on most California bike paths and trails. The Abound LR is the longer-range sibling if you need more battery.

How does the Abound SR compare to the standard Abound and Abound LR?
The SR has a more compact frame (shorter wheelbase, easier to maneuver and park) and a 720Wh battery. The Abound LR has a longer-range battery for bigger commutes. The original Abound sits between them. The SR is the right pick if storage space or tight handling matters more than maximum miles.

Is it waterproof?
IPX5 water-resistant, not waterproof. Light to moderate rain is fine. Don't pressure-wash it and don't submerge it.

What's included in the box?
The bike, charger, and pre-installed fenders and rear rack. Rear seat pad, pegs, panniers, and front rack are sold separately.

What's the warranty?
Aventon covers the frame, components, and battery for 2 years. As an authorized Aventon dealer, Around the Cycle handles all warranty claims in-shop.
